How To Install An Older Version Of The Weather Channel App

I loved the weather channel app until the latest upgrade. Is there any way I can get the old version back? I have an unlocked international GNex with stock 4.2.2

If you read the last 50 reviews of the weather channel app, I think about 49 of them are all negative about the update. Is this a normal response when an app is changed, or did they really screw the duck?

    1. Download the Forums for Android™ app!

  2. It's not normal, but it does happen sometimes.

Some developers will provide older versions of apps if asked, or have them on their websites. May be worth asking. If you have no backup then getting a copy of an older version - or waiting for the developer to fix this one - is your only option.

There are some apps that are capable of saving copies of your installed apks on an unrooted phone (I've heard the name appsaver, but never used it), so if you used something like that then if you get a bad update you could just restore the previous version - being rooted I use Titanium Backup for this (and for other things). Doesn't help now, but might be worth thinking about in future

  3. Well said. I actually use "AppSaver" to back up all my apps apk. files to my SD card. It has come in handy on a number of occasions, when an update went bad and I was able to restore the previous apk. file of that app. Also, when I did a hard reset my phone, I reinstalled all the apps, from my SD card, instead of from the Google Play Store. (Your phone will have to have the option to install from unknown resources or else it won't work.)

Thanks you guys for your help. I will install app saver. The weather channel app was so good. Now it is horrible. I will try to did up an old version.
  5. I’ve used a trick that would’ve worked for this, and may help you in the future. Get a backup app that stores SDKs of your installs... I use appmonster pro. Then, when an app releases a nasty upgrade, tap your known-good backup and install it over the new one. From then on, you’ll have make a point of not choosing its updates.

This trick works great, but it may be too late in this case...

edit: You also should copy those SDKs over to your PC so they don’t get overwritten by subsequent updates.
